Train the Trainers:
2011 Application Process Now Open
WGO is pleased to offer one Train the Trainers workshop in 2011 in Chennai, India. The application process for this workshop is now open and we invite our national member societies to present their candidates.
About WGO’s Train the Trainers Program:
Wherever you are in the world, your experience as a trainee will be, in large part, influenced by the quality of input from your trainer. Despite the key role of trainers in the development of future gastroenterologists, it is evident that few, if any, have received formal instruction or training as educators. In an era when the shortcomings of many of the traditional approaches to post-graduate medical education and training have been exposed, this ad hoc approach to the education of our successors is no longer tenable.
The "Train the Trainers" (TTT) program, developed by WGO attempts to correct this deficit. By bringing together trainers from across the globe in intensive and interactive 4 day sessions dedicated to the development of teaching and training skills, WGO has developed a forum for interaction between world leaders in education, for the sharing of experience and the discussion of common problems.
Train the Trainers 2011 is a specially developed workshop which is subsidized by the local partner society, the Indian Society of Gastroenterology, and the World Gastroenterology Organisation (WGO). The Organisation considers TTT to be one of a number of tangible contributions to the activities of the member societies, hence the reason for asking the societies to nominate their representative for this workshop.
The TTT faculty members donate their personal time and services to the workshop at no charge. In addition, the faculty has spent a considerable length of their own time preparing and evaluating this workshop. They do this in the belief that the workshop provides an important stimulus for participants in encouraging their enthusiasm for education in gastroenterology.
The workshop can only succeed if all participants engage actively in all sessions and social functions. The workshops are organised in out-of-the way places so that participants cannot be interrupted by competing demands, hence we ask for the participant’s total participation in all modules and social functions relating to
the workshop. An additional and very important part of the commitment on the part of the participants is the completion of the Pre-Questionnaire and the On-
Site Evaluation. We ask that every participant make a commitment to provide the organizers with their responses so that we can continually evaluate the effectiveness of the workshop and so that we can meet the expectations of WGO
and the national societies. The national societies have asked that the effectiveness of the TTT workshops be evaluated and we can only do this with the participants assistance. 2011 Workshop Information: Location: Chennai, India Arrival Day: Sunday April 10, 2011 Core Workshop Dates: Monday April 11-Thursday April 14, 2011 Departure: Friday April 15, 2011
